About Olive
We found Olive at the Providence Volunteer Services for Animals shelter. All skin and bones, the poor pup with the big eyes and adorable pink nose was in dire need of a loving home. According to the shelter, she was found on Lowell Ave., in the Armory District a "not so nice" area of Providence. Wanting to take her away from her depressing past, we rescued the little ghetto pup and slowly nursed her back to health.
The folks at the shelter think she's an Ibizan Hound/terrier mix. The Ibizan portion is most likely correct: she's got all the markings and personality that's characteristic of the breed. We're still not so sure about the terrier part, though. Her floppy ears and strong sense of smell almost make her beagle-like, while at the same time she's got the graceful curves and miniature size of a Whippet.
Yep, she's pretty darn miniature. Contrary to what some people have thought from seeing photos of her only, Olive is actually pretty small. A mere 25 lbs (her ideal weight), her head barely reaches above knee level (23" from floor to head 19" from head to tail). Olive is a wee pup.
According to Rudha (who is suddenly "measure-happy") Olive's tail is 11" long, 21" across her chest to back, and her face is 8" long. Of course, in measuring her face, Rudha almost lost her tape measure as Olive tried to eat it. Oh, and apparently she's got a 6" smile, too, which is pretty impressive for an 8" face, doncha think?
